Pigeon Forge, TN – July 2019

We recently had an opportunity to travel a bit east of our Middle Tennessee home base and spend a couple of nights in the Pigeon Forge area. I’ve been to the area more than 50 times in my life, and each time I go I try to find something new to do just to keep things fresh. On this trip, that new location was the Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge. A few months back I had read that the infamous O.J. Simpson ‘chase’ Bronco was at the museum, so I had this down as a must see while in the area. If the Bronco had been the only interesting artifact in the museum, that would have been good enough for me, however I’m happy to report that there were many other amazing items and exhibits at the location. Highlights of the museum, for us, were as follows:

Alcatraz
OJ Simpson Bronco
Alcatraz
Ted Bundy’s VW Bug
Alcatraz
Court Room Display
Alcatraz
Charles Manson Guitar
Alcatraz
Police Motorcycle

There were several other amazing items related to Ted Bundy (Dental Mold!), John Wayne Gacy (Clown Suits!), Monica Lewinsky, Al Capone, Bonnie and Clyde, John Dillinger, D.B. Cooper, 9/11, and so many more. I’m not going to post all the pictures here, as you need to see it in person for yourself! We spent a couple of hours in the museum, probably could have stretched it out longer, so it was a great value. Check them out at www.alcatrazeast.com for more information.

While in the area, if you are looking for a great place to stay, I highly recommend looking into cabin rentals. Cabins allow you to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the main areas, give you ample space to stretch out, parking areas without fear of car damage, and you can be back into town within 15 minutes. Our recommendation if you need a two bedroom cabin is the following: https://www.beartootin.com/411217/ Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

If you get to this area, I hope you enjoy the Alcatraz East Crime Museum as much as we did! Safe travels!
