In 2010, we had a ‘compromise’ vacation. I got Beth to agree to go to Charlotte so that we could visit the relatively new NASCAR Hall of Fame as well as some race shops. However, in exchange, we had to go to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. A word of advice to anyone who goes there. Go in WINTER! As rich as Commodore Vanderbilt was, he evidently couldn’t spring for an air conditioner. We went in the middle of summer. Not a wise choice. Other than the oppressive heat, it was a good tour.
